Using the Break System

Depending on your company's settings, you may have break time included in your work schedule that either contributes to or does not contribute to fulfilling your work norm. If the break module is configured and activated by a manager, you will see an additional section on the Dashboard page titled “Break Time Today”.

Rules Regarding the Break System

Break Time as Part of Work Norm: The break time granted as part of the work norm will contribute to meeting the work norm, within the duration of the granted break. For example, if the workspace administrator grants a 30-minute break during work hours and the work norm is 8 hours, an active work time of 7 hours 30 minutes plus the 30 minutes of clocked break time will result in a complete work norm. Similarly, 8 hours of active work time will also result in a complete work norm. This will be reflected on the Time Tracking page, Attendance sheet, and Dashboard.

Exceeding the Granted Break Limit: Break time can continue beyond the limit granted by the company, but only the granted limit will contribute towards fulfilling the work norm. The rest of the time will be considered inactive or absent.

Companies Without Break Time in their Work Norm: If the company does not grant break time in the work norm, then break time will not contribute towards fulfilling the work norm.

Initiating Break Time: Break time can only be initiated if the user has clocked in and has at least 1 minute of active work time. Starting a break will result in stopping the active work session.

Resuming Work from Break: When stopping a break, active work time tracking will automatically resume. Active work time cannot be stopped while the break is active. To stop the entire work session, you first need to stop the break, and then stop the active work time.

Display of Break Intervals: Clocked break intervals will appear on the “Time Tracking” page in the central table, organized by days.

Tracking Break Time

To track break time during work hours, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you have been actively clocked in for at least one minute.
  2. Press the break button (triangle in circle/play symbol) in the “Break Time Today” section.

To return to active work time from a break, press the clocking button (triangle in circle/play symbol) in the “Current Work Session” section.
